Man of War, Day Six

Well today is the type of day that causes people to come to the Bahamas. Just great weather.

After a morning of chores around the house we headed to the settlement to help Huguette pay bills in preparation for leaving for the states next week. She isn’t feeling any better and now thinks she would like to go to the clinic in Marsh Harbour, so she may not leave Tuesday as scheduled.

As I mentioned, here are some pictures of the harbor area of Man of War. This is the economic engine of Man of War.

Jeff’s grocery store.

Bradley’s restaurant and Joe’s Studio (Hidden in the trees, but not to be missed if you are here). Neal at Bradley’s puts out a nice meal. The Dock & Dine at the marina is nice, too.

Joe and Hartley Albury are the last of the small wooden boat builders on the island This is the most recently built Man of War Sailing Dinghy.

There is still an active boat building industry here. The Albury Brothers build a very popular fiberglass runabout that handles especially well in these waters.  They build about one or two a month and there is a waiting list a mile long.

The settlement from the harbor.
