United RV Sales did the install of the brake actuator this
morning so it looks like we are all set to leave in the morning. The cylinder
in the lower right of this picture is the brake actuator, and it is attached to the Honda brake
pedal.
In this picture you can see the cable that extends from the
cylinder and attaches to the firewall.
When the coach air brakes are activated air is sent to the actuator
pulling on the cable, which pulls the Honda’s brake pedal downward just like
stepping on the pedal. This adds the Honda's braking to that of the coach. The
original installer did not route the cable correctly, which allowed it to rub
on the firewall mount and eventually fail.
Tomorrow morning on our way out of Albuquerque we will stop
by United RV and they will test the installation.
We had a chance to make one more run to Trader Joe’s to pick
up yet more wine.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and trying to figure out our
remaining route leading to Colorado Springs for Barbara’s trip home May first.
It looks like we are going to have to drop most of our Utah itinerary and concentrate
on the Moab area. Hopefully we can add to the Colorado visits when Barbara
returns. We will see how this works out as we move forward.
