So far things have gone according to plan. We are in Albuquerque
on schedule, but our next stop was to be Durango, CO. Weather, wind
specifically, has us waiting an extra day before heading north. Now a review of
the weather makes us think that could be put off further. A storm system is
dropping snow in the Sierras to the west and it is to hit the Rockies over the weekend.
That includes Durango, so we started looking west to our next stop, which was
southern Utah. Weather there looks pretty good, but to get there we would go
through Flagstaff, AZ which is forecasting an accumulation of 5-8” of snow
Saturday and another 1-2” Sunday. We are not worried about light snow once we
are in a campground, but we do not want to drive in snow or the salt that is
thrown on the roads. Hmm. We need to look at the weather again tomorrow and
come up with a plan.
Our reason for stopping in Albuquerque was to stock up at
Trader Joe’s and to have lunch at a favorite restaurant in Old Town. Mission
accomplished!
Sculpture in front of the Art Museum in Old Town.
Church on Old Town Square.
Lunch at Church Street Café.
Tomorrow we will check out the Acoma Pueblo and Petroglyph
National Monument.
